Running with Scissors
Running on the ragged edge
Where most would fear to tread
I skate around and ‘round
Skating ‘round the ragged edge
Where ice is too thin to tread
I’m skating ‘round and ‘round
Will I drown?
I tell you I will not!
Would you tell me to drown?
Then don’t tell me to skate not!
For in the telling the doubt is swelling
Till it consumes every faith you’ve got
Running with scissors
But who would even try?
If they thought that they would die?
But when your time is here my friend
To steal you away from the world
These are the days and the hours
That we’ve been given
So tell me not “don’t skate there, ‘else you’ll fall”
In answer I’ll crawl
Into a fetal ball
As I sink unto my doom
It was the word
That uttered the fear
Then the other reality became quite clear
And I simply drifted out of sight
Down and down
Until I drown
Only then do we see the light
Running with scissors
But who would even try
If they thought they would die
But when your time is here my friend
To steal you away from the world
These are the days and the hours
That we’ve been given, and in the end
I hope it was a good one my friends
