When I log in to Live Chat I don't see any text?
Although we try to work with all browsers there are some that pose problems.
Ensure that you are using a javascript enabled browser (Internet Explorer works best!).
To check your IE browser click from the menu: Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom Level> then at the bottom Scripting>Active Scripting must be on.
Also, it's possible that you are using a proxy server. To disable the proxy server for Megafriends, follow these steps: in Internet Explorer, click Tools/Internet Options/Connections, then click on Settings or LAN Settings if you are connected via LAN.
Now you can see the Proxy section. Either uncheck the checkbox to not use proxy at all, or to disable the use of proxy for Megafriends.com click on Advanced button and type www.megafriends.com in the Exceptions list. Click OK and the new settings will be active.
Nothing happens when I click on a Chat Room.
Make sure that you have all popup/popunder killers turned off. Also, if you are behind a firewall this could be posing a problem as well.
I get cut off and then can't log in.
Free members are only allowed 10 minutes of Live Chat per day. Upgrade to Gold to eliminate this problem. Your scripting security may also be set too high.
I am a Gold member but I frequently get cut off.
This is a condition likely caused by network congestion with your Internet connection. Please try again at another time. Please contact your ISP if problem persists.
This is also sometimes related to low resources on your computer. Reboot your computer and try again.
Ensure that you have the latest version of a javascript compliant browser and have javascript enabled.
Your scripting security may also be set too high.
How do I create a my own chatroom?
To set up your own chatroom (Gold members only):
1. Choose the 'Chat' link on the top menu.
2. Choose the 'Create Your Own Chatroom' link near the top of the Choose A Chat Room page.
3. Enter the title of your room.
4. Enter a description of the room.
5. Choose whether to create an 'open' room where all members can enter, or a 'password protected' room where members will require a password to enter
6. If you chose the password option enter a room password (DO NOT use your site access password! Create a password specifically for your room). Leave field empty if chose 'open' chatoom.
7. Click Submit.
If you created a password protected room now you can give the password (via instant message, live chat or message) to the member or members you wish to allow to enter your private chatroom.
The room will remain 'live' as long as someone is in it and will disappear within an hour of being empty. |
