Hate
This is more devastating than the atomic bomb. This is something more malignant than a plague eating into core of the soul, blighting human perceptions of decency, ulceration into frightful manifestations of greed and lust and oppression. This has started wars and is leading us into others. It has thrown nation against nation, man against man, people against people.
It has instilled suspicion into the minds of wise men; it has disorted the truth of God; it has cast blasphemy on God fearing congregations. This is hate, deadly, insidious, treacherous. This is the most diabolical weapon of Satan; this is the infernal juggernaut which batters nations into bleeding ignominty. Hate which has no inspiration or motive; Hate which catapults whole races into depravity without beginning or purpose, springing easily from the impulses of a human tongue.
Hate is the most abominable of all emotions. Without it, there would be no malice or revenge, envy or hostitily. Lacking hate, we should lack enemies. There could be no wars : there should be no armament for destruction and murder. As the antithesis of love, hate is the very contradiction of God. If you succumb to hate you fall prey to the forces of evil which do not admit anything eternel or good. Consciously, you denounce hate, repel it, comdem it, abhor it. Unconsciously, you are frequently exposed to its baneful influence.
Wicked man with wily strategy, thrust it upon you in a myraid of disguises . Here it is in pholosophy , here it is in common sense, here it is in a plan for a better world, here it is in equality. There are many techiniques : there are many motives . If you cannot permit the degradation of your will, then simply close your eyes. Be passive : do not resist: do not attempt to cry out. Clever men extort you: Skillful artist paint a dismal picture of the future in store for you if you do not follow the crowd.
It is a sure way of creating dissension. It is an easy road to dictatorship: It is a expedient system of dividing a nation. To slavery of all peoples: to war, and destruction, and Godlessness. It leads to dizzy heights of power for a few : and misery to millions. The agents of iniquity are still among us. They still preach their sinister doctrines. Smooth voiced orators with oily dogmas, they still attempt to inculate their principles of hate into the hearts of good people.
Now it is a nationality, now a race, now a country, anything to excite your sympathies, to play upon your emotions , to create a feeling of resentment. Your family suffers because someone else has stored up all the bread, because someone else has monopolized the clothing, because that someone is getting rich by the sweat of your brow. Not just someone " it is a definite class , a group. Why should you put up with it? Why should you be forced to bow to a minority? Why must you be servile to any other race or nationality?
Hate! they extort you... hate! they say with rollings eyes and clenched fist....hate! they spout with froathing venom. How many of us will respond? How far will we let them drive us? How long will we remain aloft while the vendors of the hate creeds preach their doctrine. How much disease have we absorbed? How much more can we stand? These are questions which everyone in this world must soon answer.
You can always ignore a rattlesnake, but don't expose your leg to it . And once it has bitten into your flesh, the poison spreads rapidly. It does not give much time for philosophical reflection.
